<b>Introducing the "Journey Among the Archetypes - an invitation for all men in 2017 "</b></div>
<div>
starting with <b>"a Preview Boy Psychology - the 4 archetypes look like in childhood"</b> We'll also discuss-<br />
> How the journey can include the Retreat with Fr Jim Clarke (see below)?</div>
<div>
> How to begin the journey right away - if you haven't already?</div>
<div>
> How might you bring this into your small group? Or group of buddies? Or starting a small study group?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
** The book is available on Amazon for $13 or so -- here's the link<br />

Hey guys:<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
A heads up on a couple things ... Please save the dates !</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
1. NEXT - <b>Male Spirituality Open Circle</b> is - <b>Monday September 26</b>, 7pm - 9:15pm,</div>
<div>
> out at Bethesda as usual.<br />
> carpool from St Joe's at 6:15; RSVP's for event and carpool required.</div>
<div>
> Theme: <b>"Unplugging and Creativity: What's Love Got to Do with It?"</b> <br />
Last month we looked at unplugging and 'learning to Sabbath'.</div>
<div>
As we reflect on a spirituality rooted in sabbathing --<br />
What role does Lover energy play?<br />
What is Grace, as Lover, stirring us to ... Create, Connect, Enjoy, Forgive, Let Go and Imagine?<br />
What are the shadows where our energy gets trapped and frustrated?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
2. UPDATE - <b>Mens Weekend Retreat with Fr Jim Clarke.</b><br />
> Confirmed for <b>August 18-20th, 2017</b></div>
<div>
> <u>Please mark this date in your calendar !</u></div>
<div>
> The first 'press' release is attached.<br />
> We'll be hosting men from across Ontario, and Canada.<br />
> It is geared towards men on the journey who want to go deeper;<br />
and to men of any faith tradition or none at all. <br />
> If you know of any men that are already invested in their journey --<br />
Please let them know about this - so they can put it on their calendars,</div>
<div>
and begin discerning.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
3. <b>An invitation to go deeper </b> ... <b>(Whether or not you can make the retreat)</b><br />
Do you want to reboot or deepen your journey, in the next year, by digging deeper into shadow work?<br />
If so -- I invite you to engage the same preparation work - as if going for the retreat, </div>
<div>
which includes picking up the book "King, Lover, Magician, Warrior."<br />
There's more detail in the poster attached. And more to follow.<br />
This could make for an interesting and transformative year!<br />
Please contact me if this appeals to you. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
That's it for now,</div>
<div>
Blessings on your week and journey.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And may Grace lead you to a new way of Sabbathing - whatever that looks like.</div>

hey Guys ...<br />
<div>
Please mark down this date ...<br />
(note - normally we're the last Monday of each month; but this month, we're on <b>Aug 22.)</b><br />
<br /></div>
<div>
Last month was special - as usual - but with a twist ... In addition to a great circle and bunch of guys - we welcome a couple out of towners who were into mens work, and we got a little lucky with the weather. It was a really warm night; but it had rained during the day-- so we were able to have a fire for the whole time.<br />
<br />
We've also relocated our social to the Big Rig Kitchen at 2750 Iris, at Greenback & Queensway (right behind IKEA)</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So this month ... c'mon out, the bugs should be down to a minimum, and if things cooperate (they get some rain) we'll be able to gather around a fire once again.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>

central to what that means than a lot of our western religion and spirituality
has allowed for during the past 2,000 years, and which certainly seems to be
increasingly hedged in confined and abused by our technological and consumer
culture. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-CA" style="font-family: "times new roman" , "serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">I
consider the archetypes as an interactive complexity. In John Ralston Saul’s
book ‘On Equilibrium’ he considers six other qualities of human meaning: Common
Sense, Ethics, Imagination, Intuition, Memory and Reason, none of which, he
points out, can be defined in reference to themselves but only through the interplay
with the other five. In the same way, the complexity of the dance among the
archetypes gives them meaning vibrancy and life. Any one of them by itself would
close down the others and itself dissolve into tyranny and human uselessness.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-CA" style="font-family: "times new roman" , "serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">“Movement
is Life” is an osteopathic aphorism. It is true that consciousness can and does
exist in severely paralyzed bodies and even in bodies in coma, neither of which
are states that we deem desirable for a greater and more creative expression of
our humanity. It is with that expression in mind that I apply the archetypes to
movement, to marry soma and psyche.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-CA" style="font-family: "times new roman" , "serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Fundamentals
of movement such as: Connection, Spring, Direction, Synchronicity, Opposition
(the progressive conservative principle) etc. need to be embodied, beginning
with Awareness. So, what do the archetypes have to do with this?<br /><br /><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-CA" style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%;"><span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif;">There
is harmony in the kingdom when the King energy is present. But the King is
present when there is harmony or he is fighting for his kingdom. But if he has
abdicated and/or is in exile; the soma flounders
and is weak.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%;">With
the Warrior energy there is discipline and application without which improper
use or abuse arises, and t</span><span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%;">he

<span lang="EN-CA" style="font-family: "times new roman" , "serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">The Magician energy provides the creativity and
imagination and inspiration with which to explore and develop in ways that can
lead to change, future and greater vision. </span><span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%;">Without
the Magician’s vision the soma starts getting dragged around, stultifies and is
diminished.</span><br />

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-CA" style="font-family: "times new roman" , "serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">The Lover energy is probably the most closely
associated with the soma. It experiences, feels and enjoys the movement of its
sensory self which is the dance of the erotic. </span><span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%;">Without the Lover
energy the life ebbs out of the soma.</span></div>

<div style="font-size: 12.8px;">
Hey Guys:</div>
<div style="font-size: 12.8px;">
<b>First, It's all about Grace</b><br />
I hope you've been getting Richard Rohr's reflections on Grace. They are incredible. </div>
<div style="font-size: 12.8px;">
I'm reminded that Grace is entirely different operating system ... which only the soul can understand.<br />
It's <span style="font-size: 12.8px;">a new life principle that makes us </span><span style="font-size: 12.8px;">new creatures in Christ.</span></div>
<div style="font-size: 12.8px;">
So I encourage us to ponder, remember and open up to new experiences of Grace;</div>
<div style="font-size: 12.8px;">
including seeing what our existing operating system is - if it's not grace.</div>
<div style="font-size: 12.8px;">

Hi guys:<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
A couple things ... </div>
<div>
1st. <b> Pray for Joe (& his buddy Mitch). </b> Joe has Alzheimer's,<br />
but in recent days, he has been really struggling, and it's hard on everyone in Joe's circle,</div>
<div>
including his wife, family and Mitch (they've been friends since high school).</div>
<div>
We've been so blessed by Joe in the circle -- he brings a face of Christ that is uniquely his to bring.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
2nd. We are set for our Monthly <b>Males Spirituality Open Circle</b> ...</div>
<div>
<b>this Monday January 25; from 7 - 9:15pm.</b></div>
<div>
<b> </b> We're out at <b>Bethesda, </b>(just off Dwyer Hill Rd at Hgwy 7)<br />
Carpooling is from St Joe's -- meetup at 6:15.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The forecast is warmer for Monday, which is great.<br />
Dave Sheehan is on deck to share a bit of his journey.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
As always our intention is to create a sacred space,</div>
<div>
where we can remember, and breath, and be sons of God;<br />
it's a place to be intimate with ...<br />
God, ourselves, nature and each other;</div>
<div>
to hold both the grace and the shit of our lives,</div>
<div>
until God, the great healer, transforms us.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It's also a place to just relax and be guys,<br />
we usually go out afterwards to carry on the fellowship.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So, I hope to see you soon - maybe this week if it works for you.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Instructions:</div>
<div>
a) reserve with me as soon as possible,</div>
<div>
b) re: carpool ... let me know if you need a ride from St Joe's / or can provide one.</div>
<div>
c) set up team ... folks needed to get to Bethesda at 5:30 to get the Chapel Stove going.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Blessings on your new year, and may God make clear - his Pearl of Great Price to you.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
by Grace,</div>

<div>

<div>
p.s. If you have any interest in a Mens Rites of Passage in 2016;<br />
please don't hesitate to chat with me about it; if that would be helpful.</div>

Brothers: Happy New Year of Grace<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Quick story -- I attended the University mass at St Joe's last night; and it was the feast was the Baptism of the Lord.<br />
And you might be thinking ... so what?<br />
<br />
But the readings linked the baptism of Jesus to St Paul's great news that we are <b>justified</b> (being made right with God) by Grace.<br />
We are justified ... and it does not depend on behavior. It's like a pre-emptive strike by God in Love.<br />
This is a big deal. First; because it links our Identity to Grace (and this is our baptism)<br />
Second, cause this isn't how we usually operate; we, like the world prefer a system of earning and achievement;</div>
<div>
totally dependent on behavior. Justification (grace) is a completely different "Operating System."<br />
<br />
During mass, we use candles and of course they represent light, Christ and Love.</div>
<div>
But I got a strong message ... a reminder ... that I am a Candle ... Christ is my deepest self.</div>
<div>
And all I have to be is that Candle. It's like I only have one purpose ... it's pretty simple Dave; be a Candle.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
St Augustine said, <b>"<i>Justification</i>" is the most excellent work of the Love of God</b>. (it's in the Catechism)<br />
Yet few of us know what this means. Heck, most haven't even heard of it. <br />
<br />
Really what Mens Work is ... and all spiritual work and healthy religion (no matter what gender)<br />
is coming into awareness of the freedom of being <i>Justified by Grace.<br />It's letting God teach us who we really are. It's an Identity Transplant. It's wonderful ... It's Great News!</i></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Okay then ...let's get down "and be about my Father's business," as Jesus said. </div>
<div>
<br />
Please mark your calendars & Save the Dates for January!</div>
<div>
<br />

and I attached a brochure - so you can take a closer look.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So Be a Candle. It's that simple. Tough to believe though, eh?<br />
<br />
in gratitude and affection,<br />
and looking forward to seeing and journeying with you this year.</div>

<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">Hey Brothers:</span><br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><b>Please save these dates</b> ... for the monthly MSOC -<br /><b><span style="font-size: medium;">Males Spirituality Open Circle</span>.</b></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><b>and<br />A Request for extra winter gear - see below.</b></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><br /><u>For both dates</u><b> we are out at <span style="font-size: medium;">Bethesda Renewal Centre</span> ...<br /> in nature, fire, silence and fellowship.<br /> The time is 7:00pm - 9:15pm.</b></span></div>
<div>
<b><span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"> with carpooling from St Joe's from 6:15-6:20pm.</span></b></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<b><a href="http://msoc-ottawa.blogspot.ca/p/up-next.html" target="_blank"><span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">Monday Nov. 2: Theme is: A Thin time - How Men Change</span></a></b></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"> (this is effectively our October gathering)</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">and the following MSOC is </span><span style="font-family: verdana,sans-serif;"><b>Monday November 30.</b></span></div>
<div>
<b><span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></b></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">We are very pleased by our decision to locate permanently at Bethesda.<br />It provides a beautiful spot and opportunity to get back to nature.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">We are asking for free will offerings to offset our costs ... if you're able to contribute.<br /><br />The most important thing though, is we have the opportunity to journey,<br />a little more deeply with other brothers.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">Finally ... <b>if you have any extra winter gear</b> (boots, gloves, hats, jackets, ) that you don't need;</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"> <u>we have lots of young men from abroad who are studying here, and hanging around St. Joe's,</u></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">If you have, please take a little time to make a little list of items & sizes; and get back to me.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"> Michelle and I would be happy to help these find a new home.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
